Plenty of nature in Poland

Nature lovers can go anywhere in the country. In the north are the national nature parks, a large part of which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Such as Narwianski National Park with its picturesque natural meanders, also known as 'the Polish Amazon'. It is located in the Northeast, just below the Masurian Lakes: an area with 2,000 (!) lakes that you can explore by cycling, walking or canoeing.

Mountain hikers in the south of Poland can marvel at the natural beauty of the three mountain ranges Tatra, Sudeten and Pieniny. Another gem: the primeval forest of Białowieża, on the border with the Soviet Union, where medieval Polish kings and Russian tsars used to hunt.

Beautiful sandy beaches

In the north, on the Baltic Sea, you will find Poland's best-kept secret. The Baltic coast has... beautiful sandy beaches. The beach of Rewal is even snow-white. In the 'Mediterranean' part of Poland you can sail, surf, chill in beach bars and browse nice markets. Even more wonderful beaches are those of Dąbki, Kołobrzeg and Łazy. And while you're here: Wolin National Park (on the northwest coast) has 95 cliffs and is wonderfully beautiful.

Also not to be missed is the old port city of Gdansk. This ancient Hanseatic city is full of charming medieval streets, churches and trading houses. Those who want to admire more famous historic cities can go on a city trip to Warsaw or Krakow. The Polish capital is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The old Royal City of Krakow was spared during the Second World War. Here you will find more than a hundred ancient churches, monasteries and palaces. And an hour and a half drive from Krakow is Auschwitz concentration camp, for those who want to reflect on a dark page in European history.
