Camping in Poland: hospitable and surprisingly versatile
A vast landscape with historic towns, unspoilt natural beauty and excellent campsites. Go to Warsaw, Gdansk or one of the 23 nature parks and enjoy the surprising Polish cuisine. Do you want something different? Then go camping in Poland.
More and more campers are driving their pegs into Polish soil. And don't blame them. Poland is a versatile and beautiful country, where it seems as if time has stood still. Add to that the hospitality of the Polish people, the rich history and the surprising Polish nature and you know: this is a perfect camping destination. And another big advantage: it is also very affordable.
Plenty of nature in Poland
Nature lovers can go anywhere in the country. In the north there are national nature parks, many of which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Such as Narwianski National Park with its picturesque natural meanders, also known as 'the Polish Amazon'. It is located in the Northeast, just below the Masurian lakes: an area with 2.000 (!) lakes through which you can cycle, walk or canoe.
Mountain hikers in the south of Poland can marvel at the natural beauty of the three mountain ranges Tatra, Sudeten and Pieniny. Another gem: the primeval forest of Białowieża, on the border with the Soviet Union, where medieval Polish kings and Russian tsars used to go hunting.
Beautiful sandy beaches
In the north on the Ostsee you will find Poland's best kept secret. The Baltic coast has… beautiful sandy beaches. The beach of Rewal is even snow white. In the 'Mediterranean' part of Poland you can sail, surf, chill in beach bars and stroll through nice markets. Even more wonderful beaches are those of Dąbki, Kołobrzeg and Łazy. And while you're here: Wolin Nature Park (on the northwest coast) has 95 cliffs and is beautiful.
Also not to be missed is the old port city of Gdansk. This centuries-old Hanseatic city is packed with nice medieval streets, churches and trading houses. If you want to admire even more famous historical cities, you can take a city trip to Warsaw or Krakow. The Polish capital is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The old Royal City of Krakow was spared by the Second World War. You will find more than a hundred centuries-old churches, monasteries and palaces here. And an hour and a half drive from Krakow is the Auschwitz concentration camp, for those who want to reflect on a dark page from European history.
