You wouldn't be the only one taking the camper for a winter sports holiday, by the way. More and more people are doing it this way: no less than 10 percent of Dutch camper owners take their motorhome to the snow. This is according to a poll on the website of the NKC (Dutch Motorhome Club).
Winter camping more popular
Quite a few people filled in this poll: 9,638 to be exact. They not only travel in the pre- and post-season, winter is also becoming increasingly popular. Stan Stolwerk, director of the NKC, speaks: “It may sound unattractive, camping during winter sports, but it doesn't have to be anymore. Campers are well resistant to the cold and if this is not the case, all kinds of adjustments are possible to make the camping equipment winter-proof. Camper pitches and campsites on the slopes are also often equipped with all kinds of facilities, such as a drying room for skis, wellness and a living room where you can sit in the evening.”
Most chosen winter sports countries
For winter sports with a camper, Austria is the most chosen country. Germany is then also a favorite, followed by France. Beloved activities of campers during winter sports are logically skiing and snowboarding, but hiking is also a popular activity.
