The Karsten Touring Awning: set up in five minutes

Anyone who regularly travels with a caravan or camper knows it: the first few minutes at the campsite largely determine your camping happiness. Shade, shelter and a nice place to sit, without struggling with poles or complicated constructions. It was precisely from this idea that Karsten Tenten from Zwaag developed a universal Touring awning that fits caravans and campers with a rail height of 180 to 260 centimeters.

The basic principle is surprisingly simple, and precisely because of that, so effective. The Touring awning is designed around one round aluminum arch pole, combined with a fiberglass ridge pole. You slide the arch pole into the pole sleeve, zip it closed, tension the awning and you're done: one person can set up the whole thing within five minutes. Due to the round shape, no central pole is needed, which means your interior space remains free and you can enjoy plenty of space under the awning. The Touring awning is also storm-proof and can be additionally secured with the included guy ropes in windy conditions. Just pull it tight, tension it well and you'll still be comfortable outside even in a strong breeze.

Inventors of the inflatable tent

Karsten Tenten is a family business with a rich history. Almost fifty years ago, it started as a dump store on Dorpsstraat in Zwaag. Back then, it was in the shed and greenhouses behind the house. All sorts of things were sold. In 1981, Karsten came up with the idea of creating an inflatable tent. No more hassle with tent poles or complicated instructions, but a tent that you could set up easily. A growth spurt began with a stand at the Camping & Caravan fair in the RAI. Soon, a large circle of people gathered around the stand. All television cameras were focused on the new Karsten Tenten. It was a national scoop.

High-quality materials, made for all camping seasons

Karsten is known for choosing sturdy, durable fabrics and components. For the Touring awning, Ten Cate KD24 cotton is used (340 gr/m²): a robust quality that looks pleasant, feels good, and is made to withstand many hours outdoors. The pre-bent aluminum arch pole has a fixed size and is custom-made for each awning type. The awning is available in three colors: beige, anthracite, and grey. And in eight widths, from 250 to 500 centimeters. With a height of 220 centimeters and a depth of 230 centimeters, you create a spacious, sheltered spot for your caravan or camper. Those who want more enclosure can extend the awning with side walls, with or without a window.

Awning for the Easy Caravanning Getaway

That Karsten continuously develops its products is also evident from the collaboration with Easy Caravanning, of which the company is a co-owner. During the Camping and Caravan Fair last autumn in Utrecht, the Easy Caravanning Getaway was named Caravan of the Year 2026. Especially for this model, the Touring awning has been further refined, so that it connects seamlessly and creates a sleek, custom-made whole. The side walls are also cleverly attached to the caravan via a piping construction.

Due to the award, Easy Caravanning also released a limited edition anniversary model: the Getaway Trophy. This version comes standard with the X10 Touring awning from Karsten Tenten. A nice bonus for anyone who wants to travel completely right away.
