Hobby Maxia: Luxury and comfort in a homely atmosphere

Hobby Maxia: Luxury and comfort in a homely atmosphere

A caravan that brings the atmosphere and luxury of home with you. That was at the top of Hobby's wish list. That goal has certainly been achieved with the new Maxia caravans that have resulted. Moreover, the Hobby Maxia is winterproof, so you can easily take it out when the temperature drops below zero. The caravan is for sale for the 2022 season in two different models, the 495 UL and 660 WQM.

The new Hobby Maxia series is the successor to the Premium Line, currently the top model of this German caravan manufacturer. This means that the price is quite high at first glance. But if you look at what you get for it, the price is well balanced with the build quality, the innovative design and added luxury in addition to an abundance of comfort. So a lot of caravan for a price that matches it

Hobby Maxia

Homely and cozy

Hobby's Premium caravans have a luxurious appearance that verges on the extravagant in places. This is less the case with the new Hobby Maxia caravans. Not that luxury is compromised, but it all looks a little more homely. That is easy to explain. The Hobby design team was inspired by the Danish word hygge, Scandinavian for cozy or coziness. However, it will not be an Ikea-like showroom anywhere. It provides a timeless and refined interior styling that allows you to continue living as usual when you leave home, but at the campsite.

Hobby Maxia

Scandinavian design

The interior of the new Maxia's is actually dominated by nothing. The furniture panels are striking, but with a calm light wood design, in combination with expertly curved white cabinet flaps. Most of the perpendicular walls are made of anthracite, which means that they are also not as visually present. There is no way around it, with the Maxia the German Hobby has looked powerfully across the Northern border. That may have been a smart move by the marketing department, because Hobby does not yet have such a large market share in Scandinavian countries such as Denmark and Sweden. That must of course change with a caravan series tailored to Northern tastes.

Hobby Maxia

Hobby Maxia 495 UL

For the first season in 2022, the Maxia caravans are available in two models. The 495 UL is the smaller one with an overall length of 7,20 m, width 2,30 m and a technically permissible total mass of 1500 kilos. Empty but ready to drive on the hook, the 495 UL weighs 1297 kg. The layout can also be found in other Hobby series, such as the Prestige, Luxe and Excellent. This Maxia also has a comfortable round seat where you can find a place for four people without getting in each other's way. In the middle the bathroom with a toilet. Next to it is a hanging cupboard and on the other side the kitchen. Nicely equipped with a Slim-Tower refrigerator, 3-burner gas hob on a black glass plate and a sink with the same lid. At the front, the Maxia offers two single beds of 1.93 long. Very easy to get in and out. A double bed, with a length of 2,04 m, can be made at the front of the seating area, bringing the number of sleeping places to four.

Hobby Maxia 660 WQM

The 495 UL is of course a beautiful premium caravan. However, the 660 WQM still manages to leave that a long way behind. Hobby itself recommends the Maxia 660 as a holiday apartment on wheels. Four, that is, because it is a tandem axle. With approximately 20 m2 of living space, there is an incredible amount of space available. The caravan has a spacious transverse queen bed with an adjacent bathroom. Obviously a toilet and sink, but also a separate shower cabin. Made possible by using the entire width at the back for sanitary facilities. The L-shaped kitchen is placed in the head. Plenty of work space is especially noticeable. The large window and the even larger roof hatch above bathe it in a sea of light. The flushing section is placed against the side wall and slightly lowered. A light frame in the height difference between the worktops is an example of how the designers have dealt with details. A spacious round seat is placed against the left side wall overlooking a flat-screen TV. You can also turn this into a second bed.

Hobby Maxia

Hardy

These new Hobbies are caravans in which you can experience all seasons without sacrificing comfort. The Maxia 660 is equipped with a Truma combi 6 as standard. If you plan to mainly go winter sports, the optional ALDE heating is a good option. With liquid in radiators this corresponds even better to the comfort at home.

Hobby Maxia

The Hobby Maxia 660 WQM measures 8,30 in length and the caravan is 2,50 meters wide. Ready to drive without luggage, it weighs 1710 kg, the technical permissible weight is 2 tons. Both Maxia models are caravans from the top segment. The price corresponds to this. The Maxia 495 UL is available from € 32.800. The price of the Maxia 660 WQM starts at € 41.850.
