First time on holiday with a camper: this is what you shouldn't forget!
Traveling with a camper offers you a bit more comfort than camping in a tent or caravan. It is therefore not surprising that it is becoming increasingly popular. If you rent a camper, you often rent it in its entirety with everything you might need on the road. So you only have to take into account the things you need, such as the correct papers and appropriate clothing such as a men's rain jacket or your swimwear. We will tell you what else you certainly should not forget!
The right papers
If you go on holiday by plane, you take your passport with you and you can leave. For some countries you are still obliged to apply for a visa and travel insurance can also be useful, but you are not obliged to have other paperwork. When you go on a trip with a camper, you need to get a little more paperwork in order before you leave. If you choose to rent a camper, the landlord will help you and provide you with the correct paperwork. If you buy a camper yourself, you are responsible for arranging everything around the mandatory insurances and so on. In addition, in some countries you are also obliged to have an environmental sticker on your camper. This is mandatory in certain cities and regions in France and Germany, for example. You must apply for this well in advance. You also need to think about, for example, purchasing a vignette, if it is necessary for your final destination, and whether your driving license is still valid long enough.
What do you need?
When you go on a trip, it is obvious that you take enough clothes and things like your toothbrush and toiletries with you. It is also smart to check which currency is used in the country of destination. In addition, you must of course also take into account the climate and weather conditions of the country. For example, it can rain heavily in certain countries even in summer and a lined rain jacket is not an unnecessary luxury. After all, you will have to do things on foot more often instead of moving the camper every time. Furthermore, you need to check whether the camper's equipment with regard to the daily equipment for the kitchen and so on is completely complete. Also think about your safety and provide a fire extinguisher, first aid kit and a GPS system that is completely up-to-date.
Also very handy:
If you have the above with you, you are already prepared for many things. However, there are still some other things that can be very useful. With a camper you will often come to more remote places. Enough food and bottles of drinking water are therefore certainly smart to have with you. If you are not going on a road trip, but choose to stay at a campsite, it can also be very useful to bring bicycles. This way you don't have to move the camper every time and you can still discover enough of the surroundings.
