City trip Berlin: Hip & Happening!

Spring has fully arrived. A great time to wake your camper or caravan from its winter sleep. We have a golden tip: take a city trip to Berlin. We've already been there for you and have put together some tips. You'll enjoy a cappuccino in the sun, unter den Linden...

The Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and of course the Sony Center at Postdamer Platz: there is no hipper city in Europe than Berlin, with its trendy cafes and nice galleries. And of course, you won't skip Unter den Linden – you certainly won't get bored here.

Checkpoint Charlie

'Tear down this wall!' Ronald Reagan made that appeal to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on June 12, 1987. Two years later, the end of the Berlin Wall was near and wrecking balls leveled the bizarre structure. As a result, the Brandenburg Gate – which until then stood on GDR territory – suddenly belonged to the west and you could simply walk under it, something that was impossible between 1961 and 1989. New structures arose on the site of the four-meter-high wall, which divided the entire city in two, such as the now world-famous Sony Center, a steel framework with a lot of glass that is illuminated in all kinds of colors in the evening.

Popular selfie spot

Here and there, parts of the Wall can still be admired, and Checkpoint Charlie is still fully operational, but as a popular selfie spot, complete with 'soldiers' dressed in Russian uniforms. Other interesting places to visit are the Gendarmenmarkt and the more than impressive Holocaust Memorial with the museum below it.

Also special are the boat trips on the Spree, especially in the evening, when the lights create a magical atmosphere in the city. And the best way to discover the city is with an authentic Trabant: the mini-car largely made of plastic with the well-known shrill two-stroke engine. Thumbs up at every traffic light!

Camping near Berlin

Near the metropolis, you can camp perfectly at the 'Königlicher' Campingpark Sanssouci at An den Pirschheide 41 in Potsdam, beautifully situated by the water. And if you're going by camper, you can also go to Wohnmobilpark Berlin at Waidmannsluster Damm 12-14 in Tegel. That's 14 kilometers outside the city, with the U-bahn stop 700 meters away. This way, you'll be in the city in no time.
