City trip Berlin: Hip & Happening!

Spring has fully broken through. A great moment to shake your camper or caravan out of hibernation. We have a golden tip: take a city trip to Berlin. We have already been there for you and have listed some tips. That will be enjoyable with a cappuccino in the sun, under the Linden…

The Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and of course the Sony Center on Postdamer Platz: there is no hipper city in Europe than Berlin, with its trendy cafes and nice galleries. And of course don't miss Unter den Linden – you certainly won't be bored here.

Checkpoint Charlie

'Tear down this wall!' Ronald Reagan made this appeal to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on June 12, 1987. Two years later, the end of the Berlin Wall was near and the demolition hammers razed the bizarre structure to the ground. As a result, the Brandenburg Gate - which until then stood on GDR territory - suddenly belonged to the west and you could simply walk under it, something that was impossible between 1961 and 1989. On the site of the four-meter-high wall, which divided the entire city in two, new buildings were built, such as the now world-famous Sony Center, a steel frame with lots of glass that is illuminated in all kinds of colors at night.

Popular selfie spot

Here and there you can still admire pieces of the Wall and Checkpoint Charlie is still in full operation, but as a popular selfie spot, complete with 'soldiers' dressed in Russian uniforms. Other interesting places to visit are the Gendarmenmarkt and the more than impressive Holocaust monument with the museum underneath.

The boat trips on the Spree are also special, especially in the evening, when the lights give the city a magical atmosphere. And the best way to discover the city is with an authentic Trabant: the largely plastic mini car with the well-known screeching two-stroke engine. Thumbs up at every traffic light!

Campsite near Berlin

Close to the metropolis you can camp on the 'Königlicher' Camping Park Sanssouci at And den Pirschheide 41 in Potsdam, beautifully situated on the water. And if you go with the camper, you can also go to Wohnmobilpark Berlin at Waidmannsluster Damm 12-14 in Tegel. It is located 14 kilometers outside the city, with the U-bahn stop 700 meters away. This way you can be in the city in no time.
