The Italian Dolomites: camping Vidor

Camping Vidor is a luxurious family and wellness resort in the heart of the Dolomites. It is a family campsite in two ways: the campsite is ideally suited for families, but is also run by a family. Luigi and Flora Pezzei are still involved in the background, but the daily management of Vidor is now in the hands of their daughter Christine and her brothers Mattia and Alberto.

Growing up at the campsite

“I was three days old when my father started building the campsite,” says Christine Pezzei. Together with her two brothers Mattia and Alberto, she grew up at the campsite. “I’ve lived there my whole life, except for my study period.” The siblings differ in age, but on their 18th birthday, their parents asked that one question. “And all three of us wholeheartedly chose to continue the campsite together. My parents support us, we can always fall back on them for advice and help. And they constantly encourage us in making future plans.”

From two to four stars

In 2000, the first spade went into the ground, literally. Christine: “We renovated the entire campsite. From new sanitary facilities to a multifunctional building with three floors that were carved into the bedrock with enormous machines: reception, restaurant, swimming pool, beauty salon, wellness and children's entertainment.” In a few years, camping Vidor transformed from a simple 2-star site to a luxurious 4-star campsite.

Also in winter

The campsite now also has chalets and hotel rooms, but the heart of the campsite are the pitches: all comfort pitches with water supply and drainage and even a gas connection. Because camping Vidor is also a winter sports campsite with heated sanitary buildings and drying rooms for ski equipment. The slope runs right past the campsite – many skiers visit the restaurant for food and drinks.

Ambitions

And the ambitions remain, because this winter the next step will be realized: new swimming pools, a sandy beach and jacuzzis with mountain views. What has remained? That cozy atmosphere of a family business: “We love what we do,” says Christine Pezzei, “We are there for the guests, to make their holiday perfect. Every single day!”

Camping Vidor is a luxurious family campsite in the mountains (1,450m). Pitches on terraces, there is a separate field for tents, both with magnificent views. You can use luxurious sanitary facilities, a beauty salon and extensive wellness and even a dog shower (!). Also: camper service station, restaurant/pizzeria, indoor swimming pool, wifi.
