100 years ago, camping was not common at all. And that is why there were no campsites in the Netherlands yet. People who went to the Veluwe to camp, pitched their tent wherever they wanted. For example, in the forest, or with a farmer in a meadow. To the great surprise of the local residents, who only after a while discovered that there was money to be made from it.
