Easy Caravanning: Take Off & Get Away
Easy Caravanning: Take Off & Get Away
With a fleet in transition, different demands are placed on camping equipment. Easy Caravanning responds to this with an illustrious duo that behaves range-friendly behind an electric car. The Take Off is very similar to a folding trailer, the Get Away is a full-fledged caravan. The similarity between both models: lightweight and a Cw value to savor.
Easy Caravanning is a Dutch company. The initiator is Maarten de Roos. Together with Dennis Tiethoff and Rikus Hoving they designed and made the Take Off folding caravan and the Get Away lifting roof caravan ready for production. All three are enthusiastic campers who once worked together at Kip Caravans. With more than fifty years of combined experience in the production of mobile camping equipment, you can expect something beautiful.
Take Off
The first model that Easy Caravanning launched on the market a few years ago was the Take Off. “With the Take Off, we tried to develop a camping vehicle that combines the advantages of a caravan and a folding trailer,” says Maarten de Roos. Driving with a traditional caravan has a few disadvantages. First of all, your car has to be able to tow it, it is quite difficult to manoeuvre and you have to deal with high air resistance. With a folding trailer, you have a clear view to the rear, because it does not protrude above the car. This means that a traditional folding trailer is already less unfavourable for the mileage of your EV. The Take Off goes a step further with a streamlined shape and a lightweight construction.
The disadvantage of a traditional folding trailer is that you can't just unfold it. Easy Caravanning has solved that with the Take Off with ultimate folding pleasure. Because on the road at a parking lot you only have to fold up the roof and you can have a cup of coffee. At the campsite you can adjust two more supports that pull the canvas tight. All in all it literally takes 1 minute of your holiday time before the great enjoyment can begin. Inside, the Take Off offers the comfort of a caravan: a handy kitchen, sitting area where the table can be lowered to create a spacious double bed, and even a cleverly concealed toilet. You can create more space with an awning or front tent.
Get Away
The Get Away is a full-fledged caravan with quite a few differences compared to a traditional model. Narrower, lower, streamlined and the lightest in its class - something that makes an EV happy. But just like the Take Off, the Get Away does not compromise on comfort. The most complete version is therefore really extremely complete: a front kitchen with hot water and compressor refrigerator, cassette toilet with privacy, sitting area annex lounge benches that can be converted into a double bed, heating, inverter and a folding roof for light, air and extra standing height. Outside, the party continues with alloy wheels, low-profile tires, hatches with storage space all around and a bicycle carrier on the drawbar.
When a caravan is narrower, there is less interior space left. In the Get Away, however, you won't notice this, as the layout is extremely efficient. For example, the gas bottle has found a place in the left side wall, at the bottom of the wardrobe. With everything in it, there is still plenty of room to move around. The toilet is also a striking example: it is hidden between the wardrobe and the kitchen, but can be seen by folding up a top. With the door of the wardrobe opened 180º, you have a closed toilet space without a fixed bathroom that dominates the interior.
Everything else is focused on lightweight. The exterior plating is an aluminum-magnesium alloy: stronger, but also lighter. A number of cabinets and shelves are not made of wood but of mesh and fabric — much lighter, flexible and removable when not needed. With these types of solutions, you can optionally equip the Get Away in the Active version with a white license plate. The caravan is mounted on a 1000 kg axle as standard. With your own license plate, you have a considerable load capacity.
