La Manche: the sunny Côte des Isles
Sun, sea, beach. You'll find all that on the Côte des Isles, the western coastal region of the Norman peninsula La Manche. With an added bonus: the Channel Islands, just an hour's boat ride away. A perfect destination for a wonderful camping holiday.
The Côte des Isles is ideal for a lovely summer cycling holiday, including a trip to the island of Jersey. It's wonderful to follow the coastline from Blainville-sur-mer towards Portbail. Along the way, you'll pass Pirou Castle, the oldest castle in Normandy. The route is comfortably flat and you'll pass through typical French villages with stone houses adorned with cheerful white shutters.
In Lessay, you cycle along the Voie Verte, a cycling and walking path where a railway line once stood – a beautiful route full of panoramic views all the way to Portbail, where the tide almost overflows the sandy path along the inland lake. For lunch, you can enjoy delicious 'Fruits de Mer' here, for example at the restaurant 'Aux XIII Arches'. Or oysters, because the bay of Mont St. Michel is teeming with oyster farms.
Day trip to the island of Jersey
After a few relaxed days at one of the campsites, this is highly recommended: take the ferry to the island of Jersey, by bike. A nice route is to the Corbière lighthouse. Here too, an old railway line has been transformed into a cycling and walking path, the Corbière Walk. Along the way, you'll see pine trees, yuccas, and other tropical plants that contribute to the Mediterranean atmosphere on the island. At low tide, you can see from the lighthouse how the rocks protrude from the seabed – no wonder boats occasionally run aground here.
Via the Route des Champs, you then cycle to St. Brelade's Bay where you can enjoy a great walk along a beautiful sandy path past high rocks. Once back on the French mainland, you can also visit Granville: the old town is a small peninsula surrounded by the sea, with a red and white lighthouse as its beacon. This is a true cycling paradise!

Must do
Take the ferry to the island of Jersey, a subtropical piece of England off the French coast. Bring your bikes!

Oysters thrive here due to the enormous tidal range. The distance between low and high tide can be up to 10 kilometers!

In Bricqueville-sur-mer you discover the Havre de la Vanlée which dries up at low tide and floods again at high tide: a special spectacle.
