Bürstner Ixeo T 720: on the road and yet at home
'Wohnfühlen' – Bürstner uses this contraction of 'wohnen' (to live) and 'wohlfühlen' (to feel good) to indicate that they pay a lot of attention to interior and styling, to create a place where you truly feel at home everywhere. This has been perfectly achieved with the Bürstner Ixeo T 720 semi-integrated motorhome from this test.
The Ixeo series has been part of the German manufacturer's program for some time, and for model year 2019, the semi-integrated model has been completely renewed. The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 has been given a new look, and in terms of design, much emphasis has been placed on design and a sense of space.
Exterior of this motorhome
The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 is built on a Fiat Ducato chassis; standard, the motorhome is delivered with a 130 hp 2.3 liter diesel engine. For an additional charge, the vehicle can be delivered in a champagne color, like the test vehicle. The walls are made of aluminum and polyester is used for the roof. It is striking that the roof panel is bent at the edges and then glued against the side walls – this not only ensures a stable construction but also good protection against leakage. The walls are insulated with XPS foam and the superstructure is completely wood-free: the frames that give the motorhome its strength are made of polyurethane.
Living, eating, sleeping
The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 is a motorhome with a special layout: at the rear of the vehicle, we see the bathroom spanning the full width of the vehicle. Centrally located in that space is the washbasin unit with on either side the spacious walk-in shower and the Thetford swivel toilet with a large wardrobe for clothes behind it.

The bathroom is separated from the sleeping area by a door, with single beds on either side of the motorhome. The entry is nice and low, and the beds easily hinge upwards to provide access to the enormous luggage space under the slatted bases – both areas are also accessible from the outside. Tasteful roller blinds create a pleasant atmosphere, and with a cushion at your back, this is also a nice place to relax during the day with a book.
The 'wohnfühlen' theme is also reflected in the indirect LED lighting, the high-gloss cream-colored cabinet doors, and the leather upholstery with sturdy stitching in the seating area. Directly next to the entrance door, we see a large Dometic refrigerator plus oven, with a corner kitchen opposite it that is fully equipped: a three-burner gas stove, a large round sink, and a clever spot for coffee capsules. On the options list is a handy holder for the Nespresso machine above the counter. Plenty of light comes through the large roof hatch, which you can – optionally – replace with an electrically opening sliding roof – let that convertible feeling come!

Installations
The Ixeo is a motorhome from the upper mid-range, and this is evident, for example, in the flush-mounted windows and the double floor in which all technical installations, as well as the water tanks, are frost-protected. This gives the motorhome a completely flat floor inside, without steps or thresholds. On the outside, the motorhome has a service box: 230 volts, the frost protection for the boiler, and water refilling or draining: everything behind one service hatch. Inside, we see many sockets: five for 230V, one for 12 volts, and a double USB socket for mobile phones and tablets.
Conclusion test Bürstner Ixeo T 720
The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 is a luxurious semi-integrated motorhome for two people. Winter-proof, thanks to the double floor: fresh water and waste water tanks are well protected against frost. An advantage of the double floor is the flat floor inside, which is also heated – pleasant in early spring and autumn or in winter. The enormous bathroom at the rear of the vehicle is striking. A garage is missing: those who want to take bicycles must have a carrier mounted on the rear wall or, even better: on the chassis beams of the motorhome. A small point of criticism: the wiring could be laid out more neatly.
