Bürstner Ixeo T 720: on the road and yet at home

'Wohnfühlen' – Bürstner uses the contraction of 'wohnen' and 'wohlfühlen' to indicate that they pay a lot of attention to interior and styling, to create a place where you really feel at home everywhere. This worked out well with the Bürstner Ixeo T 720 semi-integrated from this test.

The Ixeo series has been in the German manufacturer's program for some time and the semi-integrated has been completely renewed for model year 2019. The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 has a new appearance and in terms of design, a lot of emphasis has been placed on design and a sense of space.

Exterior of this camper

The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 is built on a Fiat Ducato chassis; The camper is supplied as standard with a 130 hp 2,3 liter diesel engine. For an additional charge, the car can be delivered in a champagne color, like the test vehicle. The walls are made of aluminum and polyester is used for the roof. It is striking that the roof sheet is bent at the edges and then glued to the side walls - this not only ensures a stable construction but also good protection against leakage. The walls are insulated with XPS foam and the structure is completely wood-free: the trusses that give the camper strength are made of polyurethane.

Live, eat, sleep

The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 is a camper with a special layout: at the back of the car we see the bathroom across the full width of the vehicle. Centrally located in that room is the washbasin with the spacious walk-in shower on either side and the Thetford revolving toilet with a spacious hanging cupboard for clothes behind it.

The bathroom is separated from the sleeping area by a door, with single beds on either side of the camper. The entry is nice and low and the beds easily hinge up to provide access to the enormous luggage space under the slatted bases - both places are also accessible from outside. Tasteful roller blinds create a nice atmosphere and with a pillow in the back, this is also a nice place to relax with a book during the day.

The 'living room' theme is also reflected in the indirect LED lighting, the high-gloss cream-colored cupboard flaps and the leather upholstery with sturdy stitching of the seating area. Immediately next to the entrance door we see a large Dometic refrigerator plus oven, opposite a corner kitchen that is fully equipped: three-burner gas stove, a large round sink and a smart place for the coffee capsules. The options list includes a handy holder for the Nespresso machine above the counter. Lots of light comes through the large roof hatch, which you can optionally replace with an electrically opening sliding roof - bring on that convertible feeling!

Installations

The Ixeo is a camper from the upper middle class and you can see this, for example, in the flat built-in windows and the double floor in which all technical installations, but also the water tanks, for example, are concealed frost-free. As a result, the camper has a completely flat floor inside without steps or thresholds. On the outside, the camper has a service box: 230 volts, the frost protection of the boiler and water refilling or draining: everything behind one service hatch. Inside we see many sockets: five for 230V, one for 12 volts and a double USB socket for mobile phones and tablets.

Conclusion of the Bürstner Ixeo T 720 test

The Bürstner Ixeo T 720 is a luxurious semi-integrated car for two people. Winterproof, thanks to the double bottom: drinking water and waste water tanks are well protected against frost. The advantage of the double floor is the flat floor inside, which is also heated - nice in early spring and autumn or in winter. The enormous bathroom in the back of the vehicle is striking. There is no garage: anyone who wants to take bicycles with them must have a carrier mounted on the rear wall or rather: on the chassis beams of the camper. Small point of criticism: the wiring could be neater.
