Frankia 1960: all-inclusive anniversary model
Frankia is a small manufacturer of luxury motorhomes. The company is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a special anniversary model, the Frankia 1960: a luxury integrated motorhome in a limited edition of 60 units.
Frankia started as an independent factory in 1960 – hence the name of the anniversary model, which is prominently displayed on the side of the motorhome and also found as an embroidered logo in the furniture upholstery. The 1960 is an impressive sight, almost 8 meters long and with a maximum permissible weight of 5,500 kilos.

Exterior
On the outside, the 1960 stands out with its striping, partly made of brushed aluminum. The tandem axle is equipped with double wheels at the rear. The vehicle has alloy wheels, a large garage with doors on both sides plus a large tailgate – a Frankia trademark. Various service hatches provide access to luggage compartments built into the double floor.
The Frankia is designed for people who are on the road for a long time and prefer to travel independently. This is evident from the 300-liter fresh water supply, the three solar panels, and the double lithium batteries. As a result, you hardly need the power pole anymore.

Interior
Inside, the motorhome features a new wood color for Frankia combined with white furniture parts. Together with the large roof hatches – which let in a lot of daylight – this creates a spacious interior. This is further enhanced by the straight kitchen and the so-called face-to-face layout, with two benches placed directly opposite each other. The table can be moved, creating a lot of walking space.
A pull-down bed is available in the front, allowing you to travel with four people, as there is a spacious bedroom in the back with single beds that can be easily connected. Under both foot ends of the single beds are wardrobes, with the shelving unit equipped with pull-out wire baskets.

The straight kitchen has a three-burner gas hob in the worktop and a ceramic sink. Opposite the kitchen is the Dometic fridge-freezer combination, whose doors can be opened from both sides. Above it is a gas oven. Between the bedroom and the kitchen, we find the bathroom, with the shower on the left and the newly developed toilet area with a ceramic toilet on the right. The large connecting door to the living area provides a lot of privacy in the bathroom.
Installations
The 1960 is equipped with all possible options, such as solar panels, an extremely large fresh water tank, a Thule cassette awning, and for example, a tiltable 32-inch TV with satellite receiver. The motorhome has Alde liquid heating, all pipes and installations are neatly concealed in the double floor, and an Alpine sound system is present. A Büttner inverter is connected to the double lithium batteries, so 230 Volt is always available.

Conclusion
With the 1960, Frankia has built a luxury motorhome for demanding travelers who want to be on the road independently for a long time. The price tag is substantial, but also not: if you were to order all components separately, the total price of this motorhome would exceed two hundred thousand – hence the limited edition of 60 units.
