Alcove motorhomes are almost exclusively found in the rental market. Unjustly so, because motorhomes with that typical hump on the roof have enough advantages to buy one yourself. Eura Mobil proves this with the Activa One 650 HS: a compact motorhome with a surprising layout.

Alcove motorhomes are popular for their large number of sleeping places. There are always two sleeping places in the alcove, they often have a double bed in the back, and if you convert the dinette, you can accommodate two more people there. The Eura Mobil Activa 650 HS, on the other hand, is a true two-person motorhome that can also accommodate four people.

Exterior

The exterior of the Eura Mobil has a very clear motorhome profile with its alcove. The walls are made of polyester and reinforced with plastic – Eura Mobil was one of the first motorhome builders to replace the then-common wooden frames with plastic and switch to gluing techniques instead of screwed connections. This provides a 10-year warranty against water ingress. The motorhome is built on the Fiat Ducato with a wide-track light chassis.

The Activa One 650 HS comes standard with a 140 hp engine: sufficient for this 6.50 meter long vehicle. But you can also choose 160 or even 180 hp. The double floor, in which water tanks and installations are built, is a nice feature. Because the double floor is heated, the motorhome is perfectly suitable for winter conditions – skis can also be stored behind a service hatch in the double floor.

In the round seating area, you have a magnificent panoramic view.

Compact outsider

The Activa One 650 HS combines two trends in the motorhome world: single beds and a round seating area. To start with the latter: the round seating area is clearly on the rise, but mainly in larger models, such as the Hymer Duomobil, the Dethleffs ALPA, or the oversized Frankia Plus versions. This makes the 6.50 meter long Eura Mobil a compact outsider.

Spacious round seating area

Motorhomes with single beds are also generally favored by motorhome users, but you don't often find them in the alcove. But you do in this 650 HS. Because the round seating area can be converted into a double bed, you can go on holiday with four people, because that same round seating area also has two seats that are equipped with seat belts and headrests.

In the round seating area, you have a magnificent panoramic view, and we see a 32-inch TV mounted against the bathroom wall. The bathroom is equipped with a toilet, and by means of a rotating wall, there is also sufficient space to shower.

The kitchen

Immediately next to the entrance door, the kitchen is placed with a three-burner gas stove and a sink integrated into the worktop. The wide drawers offer plenty of space for cooking utensils. Opposite the kitchen, we find the 140-liter Dometic refrigerator.

The alcove is used for two single beds of generous dimensions (200 x 80 cm), with a private window on both sides, a storage space for phones, glasses or a book, and a reading light. A sliding door separates the cabin from the living area, and this also creates the steps to get into the sleeping area.

Installations

The motorhome is equipped with a Thetford toilet, Dometic refrigerator, and a Truma Combi-6 for heating and hot water. Optionally, you can choose the 6E version: we prefer this because it also allows you to heat electrically (including hot water) when you are connected to shore power. The double USBs above the entrance door are clever: a convenient place for mobile phones.
