Karmann-Mobil Davis 630: for active outdoor enthusiasts

More and more people are discovering the camper van: multifunctional vehicles that allow you to go on an adventure. The Karmann-Mobil Davis 630 goes a step further. A camper for the motorized bon vivant. Karmann Davis has a loyal following of active outdoor enthusiasts. The new 630 does not disappoint them.

The Karmann-Mobil Davis 630 has been developed with a sporty target group in mind. The rear is designed so that large pieces of holiday fun can be effortlessly transported, such as a motorcycle, a scooter or – to name but a few – a complete diving or surfing equipment for two people.

Exterior

The 6 meter and 36 centimeter long camper van is built in the Trigano camper van factory in the Italian village of Sevel. It has a Fiat light chassis and comes standard with the 120 hp diesel engine. Optionally, you can choose more powerful versions of 140, 160 or even 180 hp, and various safety systems are available, such as adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and more, hidden in various packages. A passenger airbag is not standard – you have to order a safety package for that. The camper has factory-installed windows and optionally you can choose a pop-top roof with which you create two extra sleeping places.

Interior

The Karmann-Mobil Davis 630 has a light, fresh interior with high-gloss cabinet doors, many light furniture panels combined with a warm wood type. Striking is the houndstooth pattern of the furniture upholstery, which gives the camper a very unique look.

The most special feature of this camper van is in the back. The Davis 630 is equipped with a lift bed that you can electrically adjust in height. When the double bed hums upwards, a large loading space of 130 centimeters wide by 1.80 meters appears, fully equipped with robust checker plate on the floor, with lashing eyes on both sides: the ideal place to transport a not too heavy motorcycle or scooter. That is why a ramp is also available. The lift bed itself measures 192 by 180 cm and in the lowest position, an additional 10 centimeters in width is added, allowing you to use the bed widthwise or lengthwise.

Living area

At the front, in the living area, you can fold down the table, creating more space on the dinette bench. The table can also be used outdoors by attaching it to a mounting strip on the back of the kitchen unit. Plenty of daylight enters through the Heki midi roof hatch, and above both front seats, the usual luggage compartment is absent. This is a plus, as it not only makes the camper appear more spacious, but also provides better access to the cabin from the living area. Practical storage pockets are located against the ceiling – a good compromise.

Compact kitchen

In the compact kitchen, we see a two-burner gas stove, and the sink cover provides some workspace while cooking, but it's not much. In the three spacious drawers, you can store cooking utensils and groceries. The 90-liter compressor refrigerator at eye level is pleasant, with a low hanging cabinet underneath. In the bathroom, space is at a premium: Thetford swivel toilet, small washbasin with mirror, and if you're not too tall, you can even shower. The small, darkened window for ventilation is a nice feature.

Installations

In terms of installations, the camper is fully equipped as you would expect in a panel van camper. The camper has Truma diesel heating, so you only use gas for cooking – the compressor refrigerator runs on electricity. This means one small gas bottle is sufficient, which saves storage space.
