From now on you can also go to the Renault showroom for a California bus camper. The SpaceNomad based on the Renault Trafic will shine there from the 2022 season. Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France and Germany are up first. It is not yet known when the Dutch Renault dealers will follow suit.

Renault has used Switzerland as a guinea pig to see whether its own factory bus camper can count on the interest of the buying public. That was the case with the SpaceNomad, which is why the countries mentioned are experiencing the introduction. The SpaceNomad is based on the compact Renault Trafic. The bus is available in two versions. With four seats or with a slightly longer wheelbase as a five-seater. Under the hood you can choose between 110 or 170 hp. As a French car manufacturer, Renault collaborates with the equally French camper builder Pilote for this campervan.

Also as a daily car

The SpaceNomad can be used as a daily car without any problems. With four or five seats you have plenty of room for your passengers. Pilote's camper area consists of a cupboard wall on the side including a compact but usable kitchenette. This has two burners with piezo ignition and a sink. A compressor refrigerator with a capacity of 49 liters is also installed as standard. The reasonably large table can be attached to the kitchen unit. When not in use, you can store it in the back and it won't get in the way. The table can also be used outdoors.

Four sleeping places

The bus has two double beds. The passenger bench is fixed and cannot be moved on rails. But you can quickly turn this sofa into a bed by laying the back flat. The bed size is 130 by 185 cm. The pop-up roof has a second bed measuring 120 by 200 centimeters.

Adult bus

After the last facelift, the Renault Trafic has grown into a mature bus. The dashboard looks sleek and attractive. The 8" large touchscreen is striking. You can use this to control the entertainment system, for example. The appearance has also been modernized by the facelift. The Trafic has different bumpers, LED headlights and a set of 17" alloy wheels.

In addition to the L1, there will also be a 5,40 m L2 SpaceNomad. The layout is similar. Also the rear seat, which is on a rail so that it can be moved. Pricing is not yet known, but it is expected to be around €50.000 in France. That is without our infamous bpm.
