Sunlight T68: interesting price stunner

A few beds that can be turned into a spacious double bed in no time, a separate shower and toilet: that makes the Sunlight T68 an interesting camper in the entry-level segment. We take a look at the 2019 version.

Camper brand Sunlight is part of the Erwin Hymer group. The modern factory is located near Dresden and is where bus campers, semi-integrated campers and recently also integrated campers are built.

Exterior Sunlight T68

The Sunlight T68 is built on the Fiat Ducato with a so-called light chassis. The drive is provided by a modern 2,3 liter Euro-6 diesel engine that meets the most modern environmental requirements. The back wall and roof are made of polyester, making those areas less susceptible to hail damage. The side walls are made of aluminum with a more than 3 cm thick insulation layer. The T68 is equipped with a spacious garage for camping furniture and the garage has lashing eyes to secure bicycles inside. A separate gas cupboard has been built on the right side of the camper for the two gas bottles.

Contemporary look

Contemporary look

The Sunlight has a 'blonde' wood decor and, together with the light-colored wall coverings and the gray cabinet flaps, this creates a contemporary look. The seating group offers space for four people; The fixed table stands on a stable leg and can be rotated and moved.

A fifth guest can also join us, on the side bench next to the entrance door. That spot is also suitable as a footrest for a nice lazy sit. For example, to watch TV or read a book. Above the seating area there is a double pull-down bed hidden in the ceiling - you pull it down manually.

Indirect and direct lighting

For cozy hours, indirect lighting has been installed under the upper cabinets. You then darken the cabin with a curtain attached to a rail – simple but effective. A partition has been placed between the lounge area and kitchen containing a large light bar that is unfortunately not dimmable.

Space in the kitchen

Plenty of space in the kitchen

The corner kitchen is equipped with a three-burner gas stove without piezo ignition - another detail that shows that this is a camper from the lower price segment. You can easily store all your kitchen utensils in the three drawers and the large kitchen cupboard, and the large Thetford fridge/freezer opposite the kitchen also offers plenty of space.

A TV can be placed in the cupboard above the freezer compartment – it can be rotated to both the living area and the bedroom. Behind the kitchen, in the passage to the bedroom, you will find the separate shower and toilet on the left and right, with the toilet door closing off the entire back of the camper - so lots of privacy.

sleeping area

The bedroom has two single beds that can be converted into a large sunbathing area with an intermediate piece. There are hanging cupboards under both foot ends and you can store other clothing - and shoes - in the upper cupboards or the deep floor hatch. A disadvantage in this camper is the lack of a flat floor: there are steps to both the living and sleeping areas - it just takes some getting used to.

Installations

The Truma Combi-6, which is placed on the left under the bed, provides heating and hot water. The drinking water tank is located under the dinette bench and the waste water tank is mounted outside under the vehicle, just in front of the rear axle. Non-insulated, so you have to take precautions for winter sports. Electrical wiring could have been installed a bit neater. The camper is equipped with four 230 Volt sockets, two USB connections and one for 12 Volt. There is an extra 230V socket in the garage. Handy for charging e-bikes.

Conclusion camper test Sunlight T68

The Sunlight T68 is an interesting camper because of the popular single beds (which you can quickly convert into a large double bed) and the separate shower and toilet. The basic facilities are all included. The car is well built - you can see from small details how Sunlight keeps the price low, such as the darkening of the cabin and the lack of an automatic ignition for the gas stove. A disadvantage is the tripping steps to the bedroom and living area, but almost all campers in this price segment have that.
